Artur Heras was born in Xátiva in 1945. He studied Fine Arts at San Carlos School in Valencia. His triptych was exhibited at the VI March International Show of Valencia, resulting in the beginning of an important renewal movement in Arts at the beginning of the sixties.
His work is full of satirical speech and social protest, which is sometimes really straightforward, specially during the Franco regime. He uses pop style resources as tools for protesting and his work has been exhibited in numerous cities, such us Paris, Mexico DF, Munich, Buenos Aires…
He made a name for himself in the publishing field (in Germany, France and Spain) as a talented illustrator for children’s books. He is the author of the design and layout of several book covers from “the Young collection”, “Young reader” or “Young art” series (Lóguez). As an sculptor, he has made many monuments with a great sense of originality.
One of his books -Ronda dels veïns de l'ermita- was awarded with the prize to the best book from Spanish Ministry of Culture and Education and the French Ministry of culture proclaimed him as “Chevalier des Arts et des lettres”.
Nino and Viola, together with their grandfather and an old woman, are the last inhabitants remaining in a Sicilian village. By means of his games and fantasies, Nino is looking for good luck to take him to her mother, who is a workwoman in a factory in northern Italy.
