Carlota the sheep climbs trees, she dives into the stream and she even goes up the sharpest rocks. All these things are uncharacteristic of a sheep and the rest of her flock reproaches her about it. However, one day the shepherd has an accident and there is only one able to get help: Carlota.
Carlota the Sheep was awarded by The New York Times as “the best picture book of the year”.
Critics have said:
“A sweet story that, in addition, helps you to overcome your own fears” (Brigitte).
“You become fond of Carlota the sheep at once” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung).
“A lovely picture book for those who dream from time to time of being, for once, heroes, rebel, wild ones.” (Neue Ruhrzeitung).
Carlota is a little wild thing and you can’t help it. But, what about those strange friends she has? Why on Earth does she have to play in the mud with Francisco the pig? Why playing head butt with Cuniberto the bull? Has anyone ever seen a sheep diving with the ducks? Surely you have not. That is not charasteristic of a sheep! At least, this is the way the elders think. But one day, two sheep and Charly, the old shepherd dog, are reported missing. Suddenly, someone that has got with really good friends is needed to pursue the adventure.
“Anu Stohner and Henrike Wilson have made Carlota the sheep a heroine that will immediately win our heart” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung).
“a wise choice for a children’s picture book” (Salzburger Nachrichten).
