Once upon a time a tsar in Russia who loved theater. That is why the conductor of the Imperial Theatre came to an idea and wrote to the most famous composer in the country, asking for a beautiful novelty to surprise his majesty. This story, which sounds like a tale, took actually place in 1888. Famous composer’s name was Pjotr Iljich Tchaikovsky. And the “beautiful novelty” for the tsar was “The Sleeping Beauty”.
Sleeping Beauty is the most fascinating ballet in the world, based on a popular tale.
“Sleeping Beauty is an excellent ballet and the illustrator Anette Bley has used his scenes to recreate the tale. Big pictures, that allow us to see an ensemble cast, with lots of characters that seem to be at the stage… a beautiful proposal for introducing classical music to the youngest readers.” (CLIJ, Children and Young Adult’s Literature Notebooks).
