Helga Bansch was born in 1957 in Leoben (Austria) and studied Education Science at the Teaching School of Graz. She was working for 25 years as a teacher and she is currently living and working in Vienna. She has been awarded with several prizes, including
- City of Vienna Illustration Award
- Austrian Children and Young Adults’ Literature Award
- IBBY Honor List.
