Mohieddin Ellabad, the author of this wonderful and unusual book, shows us scenes from his childhood, he recalls those memories and dreams which imbued his life when he was a child and he stops from time to time to think about traditions falling into oblivion.
Collages with old postcards, sepia photographs, all those things that he calls “trifles” of a full life.
These pictures also exude some scents: rose water, aniseed, fresh almonds, wet old wood…
The originality and quality of texts and pictures make this “Drawer’s notebook” an splendid book for children and curious adults.
The Spanish edition keeps the Arabic version, with the right to left reading direction, because a book does not necessarily need to be read in the same way in all cultures.
